Dr Nicholas Giovas

Osteopath

B.Hlth.Sc. / B.App.Sc. (Osteopathy), RMIT University (2017)

Special interest: Chronic back pain, foot and ankle pain, neck and shoulder pain

Nick graduated from RMIT University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Applied Science in Osteopathy. His approach pays close attention to the nervous system and how it changes over time, alongside a strong interest in how we walk and run.

He looks for the root cause of symptoms rather than just the presentation, and has expanded his practice into functional medicine, with interests in blood chemistry, gut health, and overall health optimisation. His clinical focus includes chronic back pain, foot and ankle pain, and neck and shoulder pain.

Nick encourages active participation through prescribed exercises, aiming for lasting physiological change and helping prevent injuries from coming back.

Outside the clinic, Nick enjoys spending time with his fiancée and daughter, playing golf, and supporting the Richmond Tigers.

In my own words

What a session with me looks like

My job in your first session is to work out what is actually going on, then make sure you understand it as well as I do. I will be straight with you about what I find, what is likely to help, and what is not. If something looks like a longer road, I would rather tell you that on day one than string you along.

I take my time with assessment, especially with pain that has been around for a while. Chronic pain is rarely about the spot that hurts, so I look at how your nervous system has adapted, how you walk, and what your body has been compensating around. Once the picture is clear, I will show you what I am seeing and why each part of the plan matters. People do far better when the why makes sense.

The patients I enjoy most are the ones who have been told to just live with it. Stubborn backs, feet that have never been properly looked at, problems that keep coming back. That is usually a sign nobody has found the actual driver yet, and that is the part of this job I love.
