Neck & jaw pain
Neck pain from long days at a desk can leave you stiff, sore, and reaching for the heat pack by mid-afternoon.

Neck and jaw pain are often linked to how we hold ourselves through the day, especially desk work. Our team has a particular interest in posture-related neck and shoulder pain. We assess the whole picture, then give you both relief and the tools to keep it from coming back.
What it can feel like
- Stiffness turning your head or checking blind spots
- Tension headaches building from the base of the skull
- A dull ache across the shoulders by the end of the day
- Jaw tightness or clenching, often paired with neck tension
Common contributing factors
- Hours at a screen with the head drifting forward
- A workstation that does not suit your body
- Stress held through the neck, shoulders, and jaw
- Reduced movement through the upper back
How we help
Assess your posture, movement, and daily set-up
Hands-on treatment to ease tension and restore range
Practical changes to your desk and routine
Targeted exercises to build lasting support
Our perspective
How we think about this
Neck pain is rarely just a neck problem. When you spend long days at a screen, the head drifts forward and the chest drops, and that changes how the muscles right through your upper body have to work. The neck and the base of the skull end up loaded, while the muscles between your shoulder blades get stretched and achy.
So we look further down than the sore spot. Often the upper back has stopped moving the way it should, which forces the neck to pick up the slack. Free that up, change a few things about how you sit and move, and the neck has a lot less to fight against.
Common questions about neck & jaw pain
Can an osteopath help with neck pain from desk work?+
Yes, this is one of our special interests. Desk-related neck pain usually involves the upper back and shoulders as much as the neck itself, so we assess and treat the whole pattern, then help you adjust your set-up and habits so the relief lasts.
Do you treat jaw pain and clenching?+
Yes. The jaw and neck are closely linked, and tension in one often drives tension in the other. We assess both together, use gentle hands-on techniques where appropriate, and look at contributing habits like clenching and stress patterns.
Is a clicking neck something to worry about?+
On its own, clicking is common and usually harmless. It is worth getting assessed when it comes with pain, stiffness, headaches, or pins and needles. If anything in your presentation needs further investigation, we will tell you directly.
Will I need to change my desk set-up?+
Often a few small changes make a meaningful difference, and they are usually simpler than people expect. We talk through how your days actually look and suggest practical adjustments alongside treatment and exercises, rather than handing you a generic ergonomics checklist.
